Warren HarrisWhat a great weekend! On Saturday, more than 170 Law Center alumni, professors and members of the judiciary joined us for the Third Annual Tailgate Party before our Cougars tackled SMU on O’Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. If you were there, on a perfect day, you know exactly how special it was.

And if you were NOT there…you needed to be. There is clearly a renewed momentum behind the UH Law Alumni Association, and it’s high time for you to get on the bus. There are lots of ways to get active and get involved, and you can click here for a list of volunteer opportunities. As you check the calendar for upcoming alumni events, be sure to circle these two red-letter dates: Wednesday, Nov. 18, when we will host our first-ever Law Alumni Happy Hour at the Magnolia Hotel in downtown Houston; and Saturday, Dec. 12, when Dean Nimmer convenes his annual Holiday Coffee at the Law Center. No excuses will be accepted – so just plan to be there!

Thanks to a hard-working corps of committee members, an ambitious slate of class reunions for years ending in 4’s and 9’s is now under way. Special credit goes to Elaine McAnelly ’82 and Kris Thomas ’83 for spearheading things for reunions included on this list. And if you want to help make upcoming reunions a reality for classes ending in 5’s and zeroes, please give Elaine McAnelly a call at 713.216.4623. She will steer you in the right direction.

Last but certainly not least, please join me in welcoming Leah Gross ’87, who returns to the Law Center as the new Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations. Leah was a great resource during her previous 13-year stint at the Law Center, and she has really hit the ground running with her new duties.

We’ve got it all. Great alumni. Great events. Great support. Now all we need is YOU.
