Passport to Success - Professional Development Series
Networking in Practice Session
Saturday, August 12th 5:30pm to 6:30pm

You are cordially invited to participate in the Passport to Success - Professional Development Series, sponsored by the University of Houston Law Center's Career Development Office (in collaboration with Andrews Kurth LLP). The Passport to Success - Professional Development Series will consist of mandatory law student learning sessions designed to cover facets of new attorney professionalism most sought after by legal employers.

The first mandatory 1L professional development session, "The Map to Career Success: Exactly Where are YOU Headed?" will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 and is geared specifically to UHLC part-time 1Ls. Sessions will include information about transitioning from one career to another, networking in a new profession, choosing a practice area, and gaining experience while still working full time.

We invite you to participate in the interactive component of this program, the Networking in Practice, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.  During this "mocktail" style session, students will practice networking with attorneys, most of whom graduated from the UHLC part-time program, and will receive feedback on how to improve their networking skills within the legal community. This program is designed to ease students' concerns and provide a fun and interactive environment to engage with attorneys who are interested in helping students develop vital networking tools.

Over 30 law firms, corporations, and government agencies have participated in this dynamic networking event over the last few years.  As an active attorney who is dedicated to the professional development of students, you could provide invaluable insight to students on how to feel more comfortable in networking situations and maximize these opportunities.  Alums and friends who participate in this program regularly comment on how meaningful it is to participate.

If you are able to participate in the Networking in Practice Session, please RSVP here and as the date approaches, we will send more specifics on the event.

We hope that you will be able to join us and the students look forward to your participation!
