A wonderful networking opportunity, the Meet the OCI Employers reception is a table talk style event, where the University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) Career Development Office (CDO) invites employers that participate in our On-Campus Interview Program (OCI) to network with our talented students. Students attend this event to learn about the employers, their practices, and their recruiting cycles before the upcoming recruiting season and employers get a first look at rising talent.
Who can participate in the Meet the OCI Employers reception?
The Meet the OCI Employers reception is open to all current JD and domestic and foreign LLM students. Employers participating in the Meet the OCI Employers reception speak to students about their organization and any law clerk, summer associate, and attorney positions they will be recruiting for in the upcoming OCI session. Additionally, the event is an opportunity to expose UHLC students to the varied opportunities available in a variety of employment experiences in private practice, from large firms to solo practices; in federal, state and local government agencies; in corporations and businesses; and in non-profit organizations.
What is the format of the Meet the OCI Employers reception?
Below are the pertinent details for this year’s reception:
During the reception, you will have the option to meet with students 1-on-1, in a group chat setting, or both. If you are looking to have more in-depth conversations with students, then conducting 1-on-1 chats with students would be the best option. If you would like to conduct 1-on-1 student chat meetings, on the registration form please provide the name, email address, and virtual meeting link for each representative who will individually speak to students.
If you would like to meet students in a group setting (for example, if you are providing general information about your organization and do not mind if students come in and out of the session), then you will want to utilize the group chat function in the system. Please place the virtual meeting link where you will be conducting the group meeting in the “Group Chat” section of the registration form.
Finally, you are welcome to conduct both 1-on-1 individual chats as well as group chats if you will have more than one representative attending the virtual reception. One representative could be in charge of conducting 1-on-1 student chats and another representative could be in charge of conducting group chats.
