Denney Wright has worked for Exxon Mobil Corporation for forty-two years, starting initially in the Controller’s Department but serving most of his career in the Tax Department as a tax accountant and a tax lawyer. Mr. Wright has served in many positions over the years, primarily in the United States but also in the United Kingdom. He is currently Senior Tax Counsel – Global Training & Development where he oversees worldwide U.S. tax training and development for Exxon Mobil Corporation tax personnel. Mr. Wright holds a BBA in accounting from Texas Tech University (May, 1974), a JD from South Texas College of Law (May, 1978) and an LLM in Taxation from the University of Houston Law Center (May, 1993). Mr. Wright is a member of the Texas Bar, a member of the American Bar Association and a participant in other oil and gas industry groups including the American Petroleum Institute. As an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law Center, the University of Texas School of Law, New York University School of Law, and Southern Methodist University Law School, Mr. Wright has taught Oil and Gas Taxation for many years. Mr. Wright is married, has three children, two grandchildren and is active in his church as well as in scouting and community service activities.
