Charles  Brownman

 

Chuck Brownman is a corporate and energy lawyer who has spent his career working as in-house counsel for some of the country’s most entrepreneurial and successful companies.

Following stints at Phelps Dodge Corporation and Gulf States Utilities, he served as Assistant General Counsel of Apache Corporation, spearheading the legal efforts of the company’s new oil and gas marketing diversification program. During the ten years that he was Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Dynegy, Inc., the company grew from a $24 million private company with just over 100 employees to a publicly-traded diversified energy concern with 7,500 employees and a market capitalization of $16 billion.

Most recently, he worked as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Aspect Energy, LLC, a privately-owned international E&P company, and as Director / Senior Counsel of Direct Energy. Currently, he is Senior Counsel for ConocoPhillips Company, working in the company’s Lower 48 E&P Legal Group.

Mr. Brownman has written numerous articles, and he has spoken at CLE programs around the country. In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Brownman is an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center and at South Texas College of Law.
