Professor Olivas salutes  Houston Cougar Fans during the Homecoming game

Nov. 16, 2015—University of Houston Law Center Professor Michael A. Olivas was named Faculty Member of the Game as the Houston Cougars defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats 33-30 on Nov. 7th.

Professor Olivas is the Williams B. Bates Distinguished Chair and director of the Institute for Higher Education Law & Governance at the Law Center. He has chaired the University of Houston graduate program for Higher Education, served as Associate Dean of the Law Center, and is a member of the American Law Institute.

“I am so glad to see the University of Houston honoring faculty in this way and I am delighted with the selections they have been making, Olivas richly deserved it,” said John H. Lienhard, Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering and History at the University of Houston.

Professor Olivas currently teaches courses in business law & immigration, higher education law, and immigration law and policy; and has a regular show on the Albuquerque, NM, National Public Radio station “The Law of Rock and Roll.”

The Cougars remain undefeated after their 35-34 victory over Memphis last weekend.
