Course Outline: The course introduces students to appellate advocacy and the appellate process, with a focus on brief writing. Students engage with a hypothetical problem by identifying, researching, and analyzing legal issues and then drafting an appellate brief. The course culminates with students delivering an oral argument to a panel. This is an experiential, simulation course.

Whether this instructor will offer “remote presence” (starting a zoom meeting from the podium computer to enable student remote access on an occasional basis) for part or all of the semester is not known, but students should not rely on an expectation that remote presence will be available.
