Nov. 05, 2025—The University of Houston Law Center and C. T. Bauer College of Business mourn the loss of Frank T. Garcia (J.D. ’75), a respected UH alumnus and a longtime legal practitioner with a career spanning five decades at Norton Rose Fulbright LLP (formerly known in the US as Fulbright & Jaworski). He passed away Oct. 10, 2025, just shy of his 77th birthday.
Oct. 28, 2025— The University of Houston Law Center recently held its annual “Fuel the Future” Scholarship Luncheon, bringing together students, benefactors, faculty, and alumni to recognize the life-changing impact of scholarships and those who make them possible. The event offered heartfelt moments of gratitude and inspiration.
Oct. 28, 2025 - Dori Contreras, a former Chief Justice of the Texas 13th Court of Appeals, recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the State Bar of Texas' Judicial Section. Contreras, a 1990 alumna of the University of Houston Law Center, served as a justice and chief justice for 22 years until she retired at the end of 2024.
Oct. 1, 2025 - Mishell Parreno Taylor (J.D. ’03), a University of Houston Law Center alumna, was recently elected as a fellow to The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers Class of 2025.
