Professor Buchanan graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University and received his law degree with distinction from the University of Michigan. He came to the University of Houston Law Center in 1967 following his association with Vinson, Elkins, Searls, Smith & Connally where he practiced wills, trusts and estate planning.
