In 2018, Judge Eric Andell was appointed by Judge Michelle Moore as Associate Judge to the 314th District Court. Judge Andell served as the Judge of the 315th District Court and the First Court of Appeals. In those capacities he was named “Outstanding Texas Judge” by the Texas Bar Association and was twice recognized as “Appellate Judge of the Year” by the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists. After the Court of Appeals, Judge Andell served as Deputy Undersecretary of Education in Washington D.C. After his return to Houston, he served as an assigned Judge, Mediator and Arbitrator for over 10 years.
Judge Andell has been a community leader involved with children’s issues for over 40 years. He has served on countless boards and commissions, including serving as Vice Chair of the Mental Health Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County and Chair of the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission. He also sat on the boards of Lemonade Day, Prepared for Life, Harris County Education Foundation and Brilliant Lectures, Inc. Judge Andell has received numerous awards and honors including the “Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service” and is a radio personality on 700AM KSEV’s Talk of Texas Show – The Amigos.
