Almost 26 years ago, I began my career at the UH Law Center. While I have many fond
memories of the Bates Law Building, I am excited about the new chapter unfolding in the

John M. O’Quinn Law Building. I am looking forward to saying goodbye to trashcans in the
hallway catching rainwater and the windowless offices and classrooms.

So many of you took a leap of faith and supported Dean Leonard M. Baynes' vision to

build a world-class building. We have dreamed of a new building for decades. And now, in
August, we will be stepping into the new school year in style.

I hope to see many of you at various events to celebrate the Law Center’s 75th
Anniversary.
