##SENDGRIDOPENTRACKING##

It is with tremendous excitement and gratitude that I announce the start of construction of the new John M. O’Quinn Law Building!

This has been a decades-long dream of alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends who wanted a facility reflecting the Law Center’s outstanding academic caliber.  Thanks to your hard work and generosity, we are making that vision a reality.

The 90-million-dollar building will be state-of-the-art located between the current Law Center building and the University Lofts. It will be functional, and beautiful.

It will be a five-story, cantilevered structure with a glass and metallic main entrance and limestone base. It will include a large event space, moot courtroom, a student lounge, convenience store, coffee bar and an outdoor terrace with views of the campus and the Houston skyline. It will be a striking icon reflecting the Law Center’s prominence.

We are also working hard to support future students with a goal of increasing scholarships and providing mental health support. You will hear more about that soon.

For now, let us pause and reflect on the trust, loyalty, faith and philanthropy of alumni, law firms, foundations, the Texas Legislature and the University of Houston that have enabled us to achieve this milestone.

Amid such challenging times, it is important to celebrate this hard-earned accomplishment. Your hard work and generosity are making that vision a reality.

The new John M. O’Quinn Law Building will open in 2022! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Sincerely,

Leonard M. Baynes
Dean & Professor of Law
