The University of Houston Law Center will be hosting the 5th Annual State & Local Government Law Works-in-Progress Conference on Friday, October 7, 2016 and Saturday, October 8, 2016. Scholars and practitioners writing in areas related to state and local government law are invited to attend and/or present works in progress.
There is no registration fee for the conference. Attendees are responsible for their own hotel and travel expenses, but the University of Houston Law Center will provide meals, including a hosted dinner Friday night.
The deadline for registering is Friday, September 9, 2016. When registering, please provide a title for your paper and indicate if you will be submitting a full draft or early work-in-progress/abstract (if your draft is not ready to be uploaded at the time of registration, you can return to the registration page and log it and upload it later). All drafts/abstracts must be uploaded by Mon. September 26, 2016.
The Friday session will run from approximately 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, and the Saturday session will run from approximately 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. (These times may be adjusted depending upon the number of attendees.) The exact format for the conference will depend on the number of participants, but in past years, each participant has presented a 5-10 minute synopsis of his or her paper, identifying specific areas for feedback. After that, other attendees take turns commenting. All abstracts/drafts will be available for attendees to review prior to the conference by logging into the registration website, and participants are expected to have read each others' drafts in advance..
Questions about the conference can be directed to Kellen Zale at kbzale@central.uh.edu.
