News University of Houston Moot Court Teams Compete in Virtual Health Law Competition
Two UHLC students competed in the virtual National Health Law Moot Court Competition sponsored by
Southern Illinois University School of Law. Alums Julia Peebles, Brian Pounds, and Pedro Seguro coached
students Jasmine Sing and Farhan Mohiuddin. Jasmine Sing made it to the quarterfinals.
American College of Legal Medicine Honors Health Law Student Abstract
This year, Tiffany Penner (3L) submitted an abstract about school-based medical-legal partnerships
and their potential role in disrupting the school-to-prison pipeline to the American College of Legal
Medicine’s abstract competition. Her abstract won third place and a $300 prize in a field that included
students at both medical and law schools across the country.
Student Wins National Writing Competition
Tiffany Penner’s (3L) paper, Online Banking and (In)Accessibility, took top honors in the student article
category of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers Annual Writing Competition.
The award came with a cash prize and an in-person award ceremony at the spring meeting of the
American Bar Association’s Business Law Section.
