On Friday, April 5, 2024, the University of Houston Law Center and Texas Tech University School of Law will co-host the annual Lone Star Regional Legal Writing Conference in Houston, Texas. The conference will travel to Baylor Law in 2025.
We see legal writing as the tie that binds. Good writing skills mean better analysis, and better analysis translates into higher exam scores, improved bar passage, winning advocates, and successful practitioners. With this in mind, Texas Tech and the University of Houston restarted Lone Star last year in Lubbock to provide a forum where those of us engaged in the profession of teaching law can become better at teaching these most critical skills. We will continue the conversation in Houston this year, and at other Lone Star law schools in future years.
We invite presentation proposals in the areas of legal writing, legal research, advocacy, pedagogy, and other related topics. Submit your proposals here. The deadline for proposals is March 1, 2024. We will let presenters know no later than March 4, 2024, whether their proposal has been accepted.
We are interested in hearing from those who teach law, full- or part-time, and anyone interested in teaching law. We also hope to hear from members of the bench and bar with insights into these most critical lawyering skills.
