Career Development Staff

Tiffany J. Tucker, Assistant Dean for Career Development

Tiffany joined the Career Development Office after practicing transactional intellectual property and general corporate law at a large New York law firm and is a member of the New York Bar. Tiffany earned a B.A. in both Psychology and Sociology from Grambling State University, an M.Ed. in Counselor Education from Florida A&M University, and a J.D. from Howard University School of Law. A native Texan, Tiffany is a former mental health counselor and professional development specialist.

Kourtney James, Director, Employer Relations and Development

Kourtney is a graduate of Harvard University with a B.A. in History of Science.  She earned her J.D. from Stanford University Law School.  Prior to joining the Career Development Office, Kourtney practiced corporate transactional  law at a large Houston firm.  While in law school, Kourtney coordinated the school’s annual Black Law Students Association conference.

Bill Powers, Senior Career Specialist

Bill Powers, Director, Internship & Externship Programs

A native Houstonian, Bill Powers is a graduate of Houston Baptist University and University of Houston Law Center.  Bill joined the Career Development Office after an alternative legal career as a managing editor for a respected legal publishing company.

Ginna Pastrano, Associate Director

Ginna earned her B.A. in English from the University of Houston, and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law.  Prior to joining the Career Development Office, Ginna practiced commercial litigation with a Texas based law firm.  She is a native Houstonian and previously worked in recruiting, professional development and career advancement.

Paul Klinger, Senior Career Development Specialist

Paul began working at the Career Development Office after practicing employment law and serving as an EEO Consultant and investigator for a local corporation. Paul earned both a B.A. in English and a J.D. from the University of Houston. 

Chandria Jackson,  Senior Career Development Specialist 

Chandria Jackson is a graduate of the University of Houston Law Center. She earned her B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  Prior to attending law school Chandria worked as a software quality assurance engineer for a software company.  Chandria joined the Career Development Office after a career practicing in civil litigation with a regional trial boutique firm and a national insurance defense firm. 

Bhavika Shah, Graduate Employment Statistics Consultant

Bhavika works with the UHLC graduates and the graduate counselors to compile, review, and ensure the accuracy of the employment statistics submitted to the ABA and all other reporting agencies. She first joined the Career Development Office as a Senior Career Development Specialist in 2013 after having practiced civil litigation and workers' compensation in Illinois. She graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Illinois – Urbana, Champaign and earned her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law.

Kecia Branch, Program Manager

Kecia Branch is a graduate of Tulane University New Orleans. Before joining the Law Center staff, Kecia worked several years as a Legal Assistant and building manager at the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic & Center for Social Justice at Loyola New Orleans College of Law assisting Clinical Professors and clinic students. She also earned her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.

Sanchez Steele, Program Coordinator

Sanchez earned his B.S. in Liberal Studies with minors in Business Administration and Management from Frostburg State University.  Prior to joining the Career Development Office, he worked in administrative roles for healthcare and government settings.  Sanchez also earned a M.S. in Management with a specialization in Human Resources from University of Maryland University College.
