April 24, 2018: New Publication "Transnational Petroleum Transactions in Latin America" in Spanish.

The Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Center (EENR Center) is pleased to announce the publication of a new book entitled:  "Transacciones Petroleras Internacionales en América Latina. Actualización de Tendencias en la Industria."

This is the second edition of "Transnational Petroleum Transactions in Latin America" published initially in 2011, in a joint effort between the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM); the EENR Center and the Center for U.S. and Mexican Law at the University of Houston Law Center. The Editors of this second edition are Ricardo Colmenter, Director of Entra Consulting and Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston, and David Enríquez, a  partner at Goodrich, Riquelme y Asociados.

The book includes a foreword written by Juan Carlos Zepeda Molina, President of the Mexican National Commission of Hydrocarbons (CNH). Zepeda says in his foreword "This book is a valuable cooperation of specialists who continue working on the quest for greater understanding of the industry and seeking the optimal legal and institutional framework for the best ways to conduct the exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons."

The book contains nine chapters in Spanish discussing relevant issues for oil and gas investments in Latin America: 1) The role of Information in Mexican Oil Bid Rounds; 2) Interdependency between Service Contracts and Exploration and Production Contracts, 3) Mexican Oil Contracts; 4) Merge and Acquisitions in the Oil Industry; 5) Competition Law in the Oil Industry; 6) Social Licenses in the Oil Industry; 7) Anti-Corruption Compliance in the Oil Industry in Latin America; 8) Technology Transfer for Oil Exploration and Production Operations; and Oil and Gas Pricing Disputes and Arbitration.

Authors in the book are scholars and industry experts including Joel Acosta, Julian Cardenas, Ricardo Colmenter, Miriam Grunstein, Octavio Gutiérrez Engelmann, Sergio Humphrey, Dario Gerardo Lamanna, Carlos Mena Labarthe, Eduardo Mendoza, Marco Antonio Padilla Mérigo, Sheraldine Pinto Oliveros, Oscar Roldán, Leticia Vega Vázquez and Pablo Zárate.

The book was published by Tirant Loblanch, Mexico, and will be available in a printed and an electronic version.

The book presentation will take place during the Second Inter-American Hydrocarbons Regulators Dialogue that will be held at the University of Houston Hilton Hotel on April 26, 2018.
