April 24, 2018: New Publication "Transnational Petroleum Transactions in Latin America" in Spanish.
The Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Center (EENR Center) is pleased to announce the publication of a new book entitled: "Transacciones Petroleras Internacionales en América Latina. Actualización de Tendencias en la Industria."
This is the second edition of "Transnational Petroleum Transactions in Latin America" published initially in 2011, in a joint effort between the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM); the EENR Center and the Center for U.S. and Mexican Law at the University of Houston Law Center. The Editors of this second edition are Ricardo Colmenter, Director of Entra Consulting and Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston, and David Enríquez, a partner at Goodrich, Riquelme y Asociados. April 24, 2018: Talos Energy's CEO to be Keynote Speaker at Inter-American Oil and Gas Offshore Conference at UH
The Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Center (EENR Center) and the Subsea Institute (SSI) are pleased to announce that Tim Duncan, Chief Executive Officer of Talos Energy LLC, will be the Keynote Speaker during the Second Inter-American Hydrocarbon Regulators Dialogue Conference entitled "New O&G Offshore Technology and Regulatory Challenges" that will be held at the University of Houston Hilton Hotel, April 26, 2018 from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
January 23, 2018: Canada's Minister of Environment and Climate Change Meets with EENR Students and Faculty
Catherine McKenna, Canada's minister of environment and climate change, toured the Lone Star State last week, and met at the University of Houston with representatives from the UH Energy Initiative, the Hurricane Resilience Consortium leaders, and the Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources (EENR) Center. Minister McKenna is the Canadian environment and climate representative on the NAFTA re-negotiation team.
Minister McKenna discussed methods to finance climate change adaptation with Professor and EENR Director Victor B. Flatt.

January 19, 2018: EENR Engagement in the Western Hemisphere
Professor Julian Cardenas ended a visit to four countries in Latin America in which he could meet with government officials, the academia and the private sector. Cardenas started with a participation in a Panel on Applicable Law in Oil and Gas Arbitration, organized by the International Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, City, in November 29, 2017, to then continue with meetings at the Colombian National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) in December 15, 2017. Also, Cardenas met government officials, in January 9, 2018, at the Argentina's national gas regulator, Enargas; and on January 12, 2018, at the Brazilian National Petroleum Agency (ANP). The visits aimed to promote exchanges and activities with partners in the Americas to develop conferences and training programs for the oil and gas sector.

On Tuesday, November 14, EENR Faculty Director Victor B. Flatt, EENR Fellow Julian Cardenas, and three UHLC law students met energy secretaries from the United States, Canada, and Mexico, who were in Houston to discuss energy trade related issues. Before they toured the UH Energy's superconductivity research lab, Canadian Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr, U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry, and Mexican Energy Secretary Pedro Joaquin Coldwell discussed UH programs with a select group of faculty and students. The ministers were keenly interested in UHLC and the University of Calgary's joint law degree, and the connections between UHLC and the environmental and energy reforms in Mexico.
October 5, 2017, Minister of Hydrocarbons of Ecuador visited the University of Houston Law Center.
On Wednesday, October 5,"The Minister of Hydrocarbons of Ecuador visited the University of Houston Law Center and delivered a presentation about "New Investment Opportunities in the Petroleum Sector in Ecuador." The event was organized with the support of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and Entra Consulting. Minister Perez visited Houston with a delegation of government officials including the Secretary of Hydrocarbons of Ecuador Mr. Francisco Rendón.
