Jan. 30, 2024 — University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) alumna Shannon Wright (J.D. ’22) has pledged to give back to the institution that once aided her academic journey.

Going forward, Wright will donate a portion of her bonus to fund scholarships at the Law Center, aiming to support students who are, just like she was, eager to pursue a career in law but facing financial barriers.

As a testament to the life-changing impact of scholarships, Wright's own academic story is one of perseverance and dedication.

"Scholarships significantly lifted much of the financial pressure placed on my family by my decision to attend law school as a second-career student," said Wright. "Because of scholarships, I was able to attend as a full-time student, without working during the school year, which gave me more time to focus on my studies and to engage in extracurricular activities at the university."

Wright's journey through UHLC was marked by her passion for the law and her exceptional academic performance. Scholarship support not only made her decision to attend UHLC an easy one but also allowed her to immerse herself fully in the educational experience without the burden of financial stress.

The University of Houston Law Center, known for its top-tier faculty and career prospects for graduates, celebrates Wright's commitment to giving back to the next generation of legal minds.

Associate Dean for Alumni & Community Relations Sondra Tennessee shared, “Shannon's recent donation to the Law Center is a testament to her unwavering commitment to supporting scholarships and the next generation of law students. As student leader while she was in school, I am excited to see her continuing to lead by example.”
