Feb. 09, 2024 — This year's Professionalism Mentorship Breakfast, hosted by the Houston Bar Association Professionalism Committee and Bracewell LLP, featured a panel discussion on making the most of mentoring relationships.
University of Houston Law Center's Professor of Law and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Greg Vetter moderated the panel on Jan. 30.
Panelists included Judge Yvonne Ho, U.S. Magistrate Judge and UHLC alumna (J.D. ‘06), and Alex Foulkes Grafton, associate at Susman Godfrey LLP and UHLC alumna (J.D. ‘19). The event focused on practical tips for mentors and mentees and how to foster mentoring relationships.
The Houston Bar Association (HBA) Professionalism Committee offers a mentoring program to its members. The Mentorship Breakfast event kicks off the 2024 program for the HBA. More information about the HBA program is available here: https://www.hba.org/?pg=Mentorship
UHLC continues to support mentoring through its Professional Mentoring Program, which pairs law students with attorneys to aid with the transition to practice. For more information on the Professional Mentoring Program at UH Law Center, contact the Career Development Office at lawcareer@uh.edu.
In reflecting on the value of mentorship, Dean Vetter remarked, “It was wonderful to join two such distinguished alums to discuss how to structure and create beneficial mentoring relationships. I’m very glad the HBA and the Law Center are both working hard to increase mentorship. I’m thankful to Bracewell LLP for hosting the event.”
