UH Law Center professor available to comment on SCOTUS social media case

Samantha Medlin, a University of Houston Law Center 2024 graduate and Criminal Law Association President for the '23-'24 academic year

June 27, 2024 — In the Murthy v. Missouri case, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 the plaintiffs did not have a legal right to sue against the Government’s asking tech companies to remove false information from social media platforms.

“The court denied the plaintiff’s standing; it kicked the substantive question of when the Government exerts too much pressure on social media companies down the road.”
