Off-Campus Recruiting: Job Fairs

Throughout the year, organizations across Texas and beyond hold job fairs for various practice areas and practice settings. Students at the University of Houston Law Center often participate in the job fairs listed below.  If your organization participates in a job fair where you would like to encourage UHLC students to attend, please email information about the job fair to the Career Development Office at lawcareer@uh.edu and we will share this information with our students through the CDO Weekly Digest.

1. Lavender Law Career Fair and Conference:  July 28-30, 2025
Where:  New York, NY
Cost: Free registration for law student members of the LGBTQ+ Bar and Transportation to New York/lodging/meals

About: The National LGBTQ+ Bar Association’s annual Lavender Law® Career Fair is designed to achieve a sense of community and inclusion for LGBTQ+ candidates within the legal profession’s recruiting efforts. By participating in this career fair, candidates will talk directly to LGBTQ+-friendly recruiters from law firms, government agencies, LGBTQ+ rights groups, and corporate legal departments.

2. Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair June 5, 2025

About: Hosted by the Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance ® based in Atlanta, Georgia.  Employers from across the southeast United States interview rising 2Ls, 3Ls, and recent graduates interested in intellectual property law (IP) for summer associate and associate positions. The GIPA Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committee offers pre-interview coaching to diverse students.  Check the link above for information on how to participate in the pre-interview coaching program and for a student timeline.

3. The Loyola Patent Law Interview Program: June 5 and 6, 2025

About: Hosted by Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. Employers from across the country interview 2Ls interested in intellectual property law (IP) for summer associate positions and, to a lesser extent, 3Ls for post-graduate positions. A must-attend for students interested in patent law.

4. Sunbelt Recruitment Program: 2025 dates TBD
Where: Dallas, Texas / Park Cities, Texas
Cost: Transportation to Dallas/lodging/meals

About: Hosted by numerous law schools in the southern states and held in Dallas, Texas. Employers from across the country interview 2Ls for summer associate positions and 3Ls for permanent attorney positions. All 2Ls and 3Ls may participate.

5. KCMBA Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair: 2025 dates TBD
Where: Kansas City, Missouri
Cost: Transportation to Kansas City/lodging/meals

About: Students who are interested in becoming part of Kansas City’s dynamic legal community should strongly consider attending this event.  Students who will be returning to school in August and those graduating in May are eligible to attend the job fair, as employers will be interviewed for both summer and post-graduate positions.

The HDLJF is the result of Kansas City's leading law firms, legal associations, and corporate legal departments coming together to encourage law students to practice law in Kansas City.  The HDLJF is designed to expose law students of diverse backgrounds to both traditional and non-traditional legal employers. 

6. Equal Justice Works Career Fair & Conference: 2025 dates TBD

About: The Equal Justice Works Career Fair and Conference is the largest national career fair for public interest law targeted towards 2Ls and 3Ls.

7. Houston Bar Association's (HBA) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summer Clerkship Program: January 2025
Where: Houston, Texas 
Cost: Free  
About: The HBA’s DE&I Program is open to all first-year students regardless of race/ethnicity, color, religion, citizenship, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, military service, disability, or other characteristic or condition, protected by applicable law. The HBA’s DE&I Program will have two application cycles this year.

The first application cycle is for legal employers with earlier recruiting deadlines, including large law firms and federal judges. The second application cycle will take place towards the end of the first semester and include all other legal employers. Students can apply for either or both application cycles.
