UH Law Center LL.M. Programs on National Jurist Honor Roll

Oct. 19, 2026 - The University of Houston Law Center has earned recognition for its five LL.M. specialties from the National Jurist, a leading news source in legal education. The 2026 LL.M. Programs Honor Roll mentions are for: Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Law, Health Law, Intellectual Property & Information Law, International Law and Tax Law.
UHLC’s Tax Law program was one of three programs recognized in the Tax category this year.
The Honor Roll recognizes LL.M. or Master of Law programs offering specialized legal education and professional specialization for law school graduates seeking in-depth knowledge and expertise in a particular area of legal practice.
In a separate assessment, the magazine, a leading news source in legal education, also awarded UHLC an A+ for its Health Law program.
At the UH Law Center, the LL.M. requires 24 credit hours and can typically be completed within one to three years. U.S.-educated applicants must hold a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and demonstrate strong academic preparation.
“An LL.M. Is more than an academic credential, it is a strategic investment in your career,” said Karen Jones, executive director of Global and Graduate Programs at UH Law. “At the University of Houston Law Center, students can build specialized knowledge while engaging with real-world opportunities around them. Houston is a global hub for energy, health care, technology, international trade and other sectors, which makes the city a living laboratory for legal education.”
In addition, the LLM Guide ranked UH among the world’s top 10 LL.M. programs in Health and Medical Law, Energy Law and Global Law in 2025.
The 2026 LL.M. class includes 50 new students, representing 23 countries. The incoming class reflects the program’s international reach and includes students with varied academic and professional backgrounds.
Applications are open now for spring enrollment in UH Law’s LL.M. Programs.
