Ann Ryan Robertson '77

The course instructor will be Ann Ryan Robertson, FCIArb, International Partner in the Houston office of the global law firm of Locke Lord LLP.  Ms. Robertson serves as an arbitrator and advocate in international and domestic arbitrations with her practice focusing on commercial and energy-related disputes.  Ms. Robertson is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of the Arbitrators and in her capacity as tutor for that organization, she has taught international arbitration courses for more than seven years.  She is an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center, teaching "International Arbitration Advocacy" and has coached the Law Center's Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot team which competes each year in Hong Kong for more than 15 years.  In addition, Ms. Robertson is a member of the arbitration panels of the American Arbitration Association, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration and the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board.  She is recognized by The Best Lawyers in America, and in 2014 and 2017, earned the distinction of Lawyer of the Year, International Arbitration - Governmental (Houston) by The Best Lawyers in America.  She was named to Global Arbitration Review's "Who's Who Legal: Arbitration" for 2015, 2016 and 2017, and since 2009, Law & Politics and Texas Monthly have recognized Ms. Robertson as a Texas Super Lawyer.  Ms. Robertson is a member of the U.S. delegation to the NAFTA Advisory Committee on Private Commercial Disputes, a member of the American Arbitration Association Council and a Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  Most recently, Ms. Robertson was named to the International Task Force on Mixed Mode Dispute Resolution, a joint initiative of the College of Commercial Arbitrators, the International Mediation Institute and the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University School of Law.
