June 17, 2024 – Justin Vineyard, a 2024 graduate from the University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) and president of its American Constitution Society (ACS) chapter, has been named an ACS Next Generation Leader.
June 11, 2024 — Vishaal Kuruvanka, a first-year law student at the University of Houston Law Center (UHLC), will spend this summer participating in the Skadden 1L Scholars Program, a competitive opportunity the law firm extends to candidates from leading law schools nationwide.
April 30, 2024 – University of Houston Law Center student Erin Kelly found a dream opportunity working as a Health Law Legislative Fellow for the Texas Senate Health and Human Services Committee. Passionate about improving food regulations in the country, Kelly had the opportunity to contribute to the revision of several food laws during her fellowship.

April 23, 2024 — University of Houston Law Center student Hannah Grayem was featured in Texas Lawyer for an article on the severability of wind rights. Such rights were recently recognized for the first time under Texas law. Grayem co-authored the piece titled “Are Wind Rights A New Stick in the Bundle?” during her summer associate placement at King & Spalding.
April 03, 2024 – Sarah Douglas, a first-generation law student, has been interning at the global technology company TechnipFMC where she has acquired invaluable skills.
March 26, 2024 – For the past year, University of Houston Law Center 3L Bailey Pruitt has been interning at Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea, BenMaier & Eastham PLLC, focusing on maritime law. Pruitt credits her passion for sailing for being the driving force in focusing on maritime law.
March 19, 2024 — The Houston Law Review has elected Sofia Winograd as Editor-in-Chief. The Mexico City native will be the first Latina Editor-in-Chief in the publication’s 60-year history.
March 5, 2024 – Roger Mackay served in the army as a Green Beret for almost a decade and received the Bronze Star. After his military service, he decided to pursue a career as an attorney and enrolled in law school.
Feb. 20, 2024 – UHLC 3L David Segal decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and enroll at the University of Houston Law Center. Segal, whose diverse career includes serving as a rabbi and engaging in community organizing, found the missing piece of the puzzle in law school.
Feb. 13, 2024 — Celeste A. Acevedo strategically aligns her legal and accounting expertise. Initially earning a master's degree and becoming a CPA, Acevedo discovered the interconnectedness of both fields during her time in public accounting.
Feb. 06, 2024 – The University of Houston Law Center 2L Aprill Harmon’s journey into law was inspired by her background in social work. Harmon, a licensed clinical social worker for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, found her passion for advocacy during the pandemic, prompting her decision to pursue law school.
